It was really awesome. I don’t remember if I has any issues with it as far as singal is concerned. Travelled to Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Marbella, Cadiz and Seville. Signal strength was excellent. Skype and whatsup helped me keep in touch with my team back in the home country.

MAIN TOURIST DESTINATION IN LATIN AMERICA

Do you know anything about the places you are going to visit in Mexico? What about the main tourist attractions in the country? The Angel of Independence, the National Museum of Anthropology, the traditional football stadium Estadio Azteca, Chapultepec Forest or Frida Kahlo Museum are part of the list of attractions to be visited by travellers in the city capital, Mexico DF. What about the rest of Mexico? Cancun is the main tourist destination, an ideal place if you seek a full equipped hotel to spend some relaxing holidays with great amount of entertaining alternatives. Around 16 km away, in the State of Quintana Roo, you will enjoy the spectacular beaches located in the Mexican Caribbean, in the middle of Rivera Maya. There we recommend you visit the beautiful city Playa del Carmen, the archaeological remains of Tulum and an excursion on a boat to the island of Cozumel. The most important remains of Maya culture, Chichen Itza in Yucatan, must also be visited. They are considered one of the “Wonders of the World” as well as the Pyramid of Kukulcan. Acapulco is another ideal city if you are seeking to enjoy the sun. Cabos in Baja California, Puerto Escondido of Oaxaca, Copper Canyon of Chihuahua, Pico de Orizaba in Veracruz, or Jalisco “Land of Tequila” are some places visited by travellers worldwide.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MEXICO?

The country is officially called United Mexican States; total surface is 2 million km2 and total population of 122 million citizens. Regarding politics, the country is a Presidential Federal Republic and the capital city is Mexico City. The country is surrounded by the United States, Belize, Guatemala, the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The official language is Spanish, however there are around 70 native languages spoken throughout the entire territory. Its economy is ranked as the fourteenth in the world and the first in Latin America. Oil industry is highly important for the country as well as the tourist industry. In fact, Mexico is listed among the 13 main tourist destinations worldwide. The Tropic of Cancer divides two climatic regions in the country: Tropical and mild.

DO I NEED ANY DOCUMENTS TO TRAVEL TO MEXICO?

You will need the following: Valid passport, Identity Card, flight ticket back to your country and evidence of your accommodation, for example the hotel booking. If you are planning on staying with your family or a friend, you need to fill in an immigration document provided at the flight which includes name, address and other additional data about the person providing you the accommodation. You can’t stay in the country over 180 days as a tourist. You will also have to fill in a document called Multiple Migratory Form proving that you visit the country as a tourist, and proving you have enough money if you have to pay expenses regarding trips, accommodation, etc. If you are a European or North American citizen you will need no visa. We recommend you have a look at the web of the National Institute of Migration in Mexico to check visa requirements depending on the nationality.

CURRENCY AND OPENING HOURS IN MEXICO

The official currency in Mexico is the peso. You should exchange money at banks (open from 08:00 am to 19.00 pm) and be careful with cash points, mainly at night. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are most common cards used. The exchange type varies frequently so many travellers recommend to exchange money within several transactions. Shops and shopping centres normally open from 10.00 am to 22.00 pm, museums and monuments open from 09.00 am to 18.00 pm, and posts offices from 08.00 am to 18.00 pm.

UNSECURE AREAS FOR TOURISTS

Touristic areas like Cancun or the Riviera Maya are very secure places for travellers; however, Acapulco has experienced a significant reduction in the amount of travellers due to organized crime. The war of drug trafficking doesn’t affect the tourist, although we recommend you be very careful in places like Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Coahuila, Durango or Ciudad Juarez, among others. In case you travel close to the borders with USA, we advise you stay in the northern region and cross it as many times as necessary. Kidnappings, extortion and assaults are some of the main insecurity problems of the country.
