It was really awesome. I don’t remember if I has any issues with it as far as singal is concerned. Travelled to Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Marbella, Cadiz and Seville. Signal strength was excellent. Skype and whatsup helped me keep in touch with my team back in the home country.

SWISS ALPS

The Lake Region called “Mitteland”; the Matterhorn in Zermatt, which is the most beautiful and famous peak of the Alps; Bernese Oberland close to Interlaken; Lucerne city, considered the true capital of Switzerland, which is a beautiful alp municipality located in the centre of the country; a relaxing trip to one of the winter health resorts in Davos; or the famous ski stations of Gstaad, Verbier or St. Moritz, are some of the most attractive plans for travellers visiting Switzerland. The exclusive shops of Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich or La Jet d’Eau, one of the tallest fountains in the world, are located in Geneva and are other interesting places for travellers.

WHO MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SWITZERLAND?

This country is officially known as the Swiss Confederation or Helvetic Republic; is a Central European country and borders with Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein. Switzerland is divided into 26 states called Cantons; the capital is Bern where institutions are established while cities like Geneva, Zurich or Basel include main business centres. 4 official languages are spoken in Switzerland: German, French, Italian and Romansh language. This country has one of the most powerful capitalist economies in the world and has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world.

SWISS FRANCS, PRICES AND BANKS

The official currency in Switzerland is the Swiss franc (CHF), with notes of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 francs and coins of 5, 2 and 1 franc and 5, 10, 20 and 50 “rappen” (cents). 1 Swiss franc is equivalent to 0,97 euros and 1,08 dollars. Money can be exchanged at airports, public transport stations, and exchange offices and of course at banks that open until 18.00 pm. As you might know, banks in Switzerland play a key role in Swiss economy and its financial market is one of the most stable and important in the world, being Credit Suisse and USB the main entities. This is the most expensive country in Europe, after Norway and Island. The metro costs 3 francs, one bier 5 francs and 12 francs an affordable restaurant.

TAKE INTO ACCOUNT: OPENING HOURS, ROADS, SECURITY…

In order to get an idea on the shopping opening hours, Swiss people start their working day at 7.00 or 8.00 am; lunch time is at midday and shops open until 6.00 pm. If you are going to drive remember that Switzerland has no tolls but there is a “Swiss Highway Vignette”, an annual tax of 30 euros which allows you to drive throughout the whole country. You will get an identifying sticker showing you have paid. The climate is influenced by the Alps with a cold and mountain weather in winter and mild during summer months. In Switzerland, there are no security risks for the traveller and the health system is highly appreciated.
